The State Department
Imperial China, Typefighter

Typefighter is an indie-folk band from Washington, DC. It began when frontman Ryan McLaughlin bought an autoharp from an antique store in Peoria, Illinois, while traveling with a former band. In the wake of a musical lull, he began to write what would become Typefighter's first release. Typefighter expanded from a solo project to a full band when Ryan added Erik Anderson (guitar), while recording a basement demo, and John Crum (guitar) immediately before their first show. Mary Voutsas was brought on for the addition of piano and complex vocal harmonies. She later brought on drummer Will Waikart and guitarist/ banjo player Kevin Moquin.
Typefighter recently completed their debut EP: I Want to See you Game, Boys, I Want to See you Brave.
$10.00
The State Department having been playing some of the best sweaty post-punk and debauchery, but The State Department are sadly calling it quits. They had said they'd never play another show, but luckily was able to get them to play one last with special guest Patrick Gough (of Imperial China) to sit in on drums. So we're sending them off to the great sweaty basement in the sky in the premier sweaty basement in DC (the one with an amazing soundsystem and A/C).
