Exhumed Films double-feature: Martial Arts Mayhem!

Miami Connection

1987/120 min/35mm
Forget “Raw Force.” Forget “Lady Terminator.” Hell, forget “Boarding House.” “Miami Connection” may just be the most awesomely inept movie ever made. Directed by 9th degree black belt philosopher/author/inspirational speaker Grandmaster Y.K. Kim, the film tells the story of fearless synth rock band Dragon Sound as they embark on a roundhouse wreck-wave of crime-crushing justice in the streets of Orlando. Exhumed Films is proud to present—in conjunction with Drafthouse Films—the Philadelphia premiere of this newly re-discovered masterpiece of kung-fu craziness. This movie will make you spontaneously combust. Don’t miss it.

L.A. Streetfighters

1985/85 min/35mm
The only possible film that could be paired with the insanity of “Miami Connection” is its spiritual soul-mate, “L.A. Streetfighters.” Directed by Korean filmmaker Woo-sang Park (who actually co-directed “Miami Connection” with Grandmaster Kim), “L.A. Streetfighters” (aka “Ninja Turf”) tells the tale of Tony, the world’s oldest high school student, who gets lured into the gang lifestyle and drug trade on the mean streets of Los Angeles. As one might anticipate, things do not go well for Tony, and he and his friend Young soon find themselves fighting for their lives. Another ridiculous (and ridiculously entertaining) film that must be seen to be believed.
