Singer-Songwriter Hillary Capps combines thoughtful lyricism with clean, soaring vocals and catchy melodies - captivating audiences with her alluring alternative pop songs.
After releasing the first single “New Melody” off of her debut full-length album The Wishing Forest, Hillary was named one of The Deli Magazine's top NYC based indie-pop artists. The singer/songwriter has also been featured on Hype Machine, American Songwriter, M Music & Musicians and ArtistDirect, as well as hundreds of college radio stations across the US. Performances include Knitting Factory Brooklyn, Webster Hall, Rockwood Music Hall, Mercury Lounge, Hotel Cafe, SXSW, CMJ, CBGB and NORTHSIDE Festivals.
Originally from Vermont and raised in a musical family, Capps began performing with numerous jazz groups at weddings and events around New England at age 16. After relocating to New York City for college, Capps released a full-length album of jazz standards, A Perfect Dozen, in 2008. In 2010, Capps released Playlist, an album of covers and joined the rock band Cheers to Fall shortly thereafter. Hillary Capps formed her own band during her senior year at The New School, releasing an EP titled Maybe in the Morning, a true reflection of her musical inspiration.
Capps’ first full-length album, The Wishing Forest, was recorded in Brooklyn, NY at Vinegar Hill Sound by Reed Black (Saves the Day), and mixed at the legendary Electric Lady Studios by Grammy-winning engineer Michael Brauer (Coldplay, John Mayer, Christina Perri, The Rolling Stones).
Hillary Capps will release two new singles in the Spring of 2017, with an EP to follow.
