AIR CREDITS is music from the not too distant future, when the planet’s water supply has all but ceased, the landscape turning to desert, the desert turning to wasteland. Radio stations worldwide have been transformed into climate controlled compounds, guarded heavily by their surrounding communities not only to maintain communique with the declining population, but to preserve music new and old— lest it expire with the planet.
Sidewalk Chalk continues to lead the contemporary evolution of hiphop, soul, and jazz. The band’s third album, Shoulder Season, is compiled from seven live performances across the US. Its title signifies transition, a time in between two places, a feeling of expectation for what is to come. Sidewalk Chalk’s roots are firmly planted in Chicago where all eight members bring their respective talents together to update a sound first heralded in the Native Tongues era but never so musically diverse. The group’s unique arrangement allows them to incorporate numerous styles seamlessly: an MC and female vocalist; a trio of keys, bass, and drums; a horn section with trombone and trumpet; and a tapdancer.

The Garfield Park Conservatory Alliance, Land and Sea Dept., and the Natural Resources Defense Council are excited to present Earth Day: The “Not a Hoax” Party.
Chicago-based Air Credits (a collaboration of The Hood Internet & ShowYouSuck) will be performing, with opening sets by Sidewalk Chalk and Audio Jack. Land and Sea Dept. will be selling beer, wine & cocktails - purchase drink tickets in advance of attending.
The party is a call to action & a fundraiser, seeking to raise awareness about climate change while demanding that lawmakers recognize global warming as a serious, and real, problem. Proceeds from tickets & a portion of bar sales will benefit the NRDC and the Garfield Park Conservatory Alliance.
The event will also feature a VIP cocktail hour from 6-7p, featuring Earth Day-oriented bites from Chef Abra Berens of Local Foods, cocktails featuring Corazon Tequila, as well as bio-dynamic wines, and beer from Lagunitas.
