Foundation presents "Roots, Rock, Reggae Sessions:" The first night in a series of reggae tribute events featuring Orlando's premier reggae and rocksteady group, 'Control This!' and Central Florida's most authentic ska, rocksteady, reggae and soul DJ team, 'The Skylarking Soundsystem.'

On Thursday, May 3, Control This! will pay tribute to legendary Haitian-born saxophonist, Tommy McCook. McCook is perhaps most famous for his contributions to the legendary founders of ska, The Skatalites, however his contributions to the Treasure Isle songbook, as well as his leadership of several groups in Jamaica through the late 60's and early 70's should not be overlooked. The evening will include two hours of live music spanning McCook's Skatalites days along with 'Tommy Originals' from the Supersonics, Sensations, Aggrovators, Aggitators, Paragons, Techniques and others performed by some of Orlando's finest musicians.

Along with live music, the evening will feature The Skylarking Soundsystem. "Started by Dr. Bassie, Skylarking Sound System has been playing the best in Jamaican ska, rocksteady and reggae from the 60's and early 70's since going on the air the late 90's on WPRK 91.5FM in Winter Park. Culling tunes from his extensive collection of original 45's, he'll get your feet moving with big hits as well as monster rarities!"

Control This! has quickly risen to the top of the Central Florida ska and reggae scene since its formation in March of 2012. Formed by saxophonist Jeff Richey, Control This! provides authentic ska, rocksteady and early reggae sounds. After spending nine years touring the globe with seminal NYC ska outfit, The Toasters, and taking a four year hiatus, Jeff is back with a powerful Jamaican sound. Joined by some of Central Florida's most talented musicians, Jeff and Control This! have begun to make their mark by paying tribute to the songs and sounds of Jamaican music circa 1969-1973.
