Philadelphia power-pop songwriters Sam Cook-Parrott and Michael Cantor each helm their own bands: Cook-Parrott is the force behind Radiator Hospital, and Cantor's main project is The Goodbye Party. Both write songs that range from sparse and intimate to lush and joyful, driven by DIY aesthetics and thoughtful lyrics. Now, they're collaborating under the name The Afterglows, with a self-titled album due out later this summer.
Transcendental audio/visual rock duo Darsombra have packed and prepared their space shuttle for launch, readying themselves for journey to inner space. Brian Daniloski (a veteran of metal bands Meatjack and Trephine), pilots, navigates, and controls the sound of Darsombra, alternating between searing guitar riffs, leads, loops, mammoth vocal swells, and soundscapes. He takes one part metal, one part psychedelic rock, one part experimental, and dashes of prog, glam, and krautrock, to soundtrack the voyage. Filmmaker Ann Everton stewards us along the way by projecting her kinetic, psychotropic videos specifically composed to Daniloski's music, engulfing the audience within the trip.
Heavy Coughin sounds like a lb. of weed

Romantic States is Jim Triplett and Ilenia Madelaire from Baltimore. They play raw and skeletal lo-fi rock songs that are sincere, vulnerable, and haunting. Romantic States forge their path with little more than guitar, drums and voice but their success lies in what they achieve outside of these components. Immeasurable as these things often are, there's a sense of melodrama that bleeds out of their songs.
Releases include a cassette on DZ Tapes and an upcoming 7" Single on Nebraskan Coast.
Veteran NY psych-pop act Shana Falana returns this fall with a new LP Here Comes The Waves out 10/21 on Team Love Records. Emerging from New York's vast drone/psych scene, Shana combines live looping of reverb-drenched vocals and guitar with tribal drums and stunning visual projections. Her live experience has often been described as transcendental.
"Psychedelic dream pop dashed on the rocks of goth defiance" -Stereogum
"If you want to zone out, Shana Falana's alluring debut LP gives many opportunities to do so." -Pitchfork
