AJ Ghent Band
AJ Ghent constructs an indie-rock sound howling from the church to the blues. His style can be defined as fresh, nostalgic, electrifying and rootsy, -- fusing the sounds blues, funk, r & b, hip-hop and a sprinkle of EDM together into a genre he likes to call, NEO BLUES.
The passionate energy that resonates from the stage is sure to be felt in the crowd--promoting an unforgettable experience that aims to carry you into a musical paradise.
Ghent was born into a legacy of famous lap steel guitar players such as, his great uncle Willie Eason, the originator of the Sacred Steel Tradition, his grandfather, Henry Nelson, and his father, Aubrey Ghent Sr.
AJ's grandfather, Henry Nelson, was the founder of the Sacred Steel rhythmic style played by many steel/slide guitarists today. Some of these guitarists include Robert Randolph, The Campbell Brothers, Derek Trucks, Jimmy Herring, and more.
Kyshona Armstrong, a music therapist gone rogue, has a natural gift for using music to tap into emotion. She began her career as a music therapist, working in mental health hospitals and correctional facilities, writing music with her patients and using music to redirect behaviors and emotions. Kyshona soon found the need to write music independently to help her process her daily experiences with her clients.
Audiences will often find a common thread of overcoming, hope, and empowerment in her songwriting and storytelling. She uses her emotional intelligence to create her unique bluesy and soulful style of music. Her latest album, "The Ride”, was released in late 2016 to critical acclaim in both the UK and the US. Kyshona has had the privilege to tour with the likes of Wynonna Judd, Lake Street Dive, Margo Price and Meiko.
