The Harmonica Lewinskies, The Dough Rollers, Shoshin

The Harmonica Lewinskies
The Harmonica Lewinskies are dedicated to the modernization of the spirit of the American South and Brazilian Bossanova music. With a strict helping of delta blues revival and a heavy diet in rock and roll, this tour de force out of New York City is devoted to the mysticism of Americana, doing whatever it takes to play as much music as they can in the years to come.
The Dough Rollers started in 2008 when Jack Byrne and Malcolm Ford bonded over a mutual appreciation for blues music. Initially the band started as a two piece but quickly expanded to to fit fiddler and singer Julia Tepper, just in time to start exploring other kinds of music the group was being influenced by. A self-titled album comprised of blues, country and just about everything in between was recorded and released in late 2009. After some time as a three-piece, the lineup returned to being just Byrne and Ford so they could really focus on their love for early blues music. An album, Someday Baby, made up of the blues that Byrne and Ford had crafted playing countless shows around the country, followed shortly thereafter and was released in a limited run. Not to sit in any one place for too long, after the release of Someday Baby, The Dough Rollers evolved again, though this time into a four piece outfit complete with bass and drums. This sudden change may have seemed strange to some, but it has "allowed us to really try to blend all the different kinds of music we're influenced by into something (hopefully) totally new" say Byrne and Ford. At first, the band featured a rotating rhythm section but the lineup is now cemented with Xan Aird on bass and Kyle Olson on drums. Recently the band has toured with Bob Dylan, John Mellencamp and Queens of the Stone Age. Look for their new release at the end of the summer, an EP produced by Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age.
In 2009, Shoshin started out performing car-battery powered guerrilla street gigs all over Europe in 70 different cities and 11 countries spreading their sound, and sharing their vibes, throughout Europe. In January 2010 Shoshin put their name on the map in Europe’s music scene by performing for a total of 7 hours over 2 days in below freezing conditions at the annual Eurosonic NorderSlaag Festival in Groningen Holland.
This display of grit, determination and skills, led to the band being booked widely across the continent in venues and festivals alike. In early 2011 they finished a self recorded and independently released debut album ‘City of Patience’, and then proceeded to tour it around the UK up to the tip of Northern Europe and down to the desert like expanses of southern Spain.
In June 2012 Shoshin released their first official video of their song “Through the Leaves” (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ghlmOHa_N4s) , embarked on a US Tour, and in July will be recording their official debut label release in NYC.
