R.A. The Rugged Man
R.A. the Rugged Man, is an emcee from Suffolk County, New York on Long Island. At 18, R.A. signed with Jive Records and then in the mid 90's signed with Priority Records/EMI, his contract was later absorbed by Capitol records before going independent in the early 2000s. Throughout his career he's worked with various artists including the Notorious B.I.G., Mobb Deep, Sadat X, Akinyele, Chuck D of Public Enemy, Jedi Mind Tricks, Kool G Rap, Wu-Tang Clan, Masta Killa, Killah Priest, and producers Trackmasters, Erick Sermon, DJ Quik, Buckwild, Alchemist, and Ayatollah. He was featured on all three of Rawkus's Soundbombing albums, as well as the platinum-selling WWF Aggression album, performing the theme song for Chris Jericho. In Ego Trip (magazine) Vol. 1, Issue 3, the Notorious B.I.G. was quoted as saying, "I thought I was the illest," when referring to R.A. In 2004 he released the album "Die, Rugged Man, Die" on Brooklyn based label Nature Sounds. R.A. has cameos in several music videos including Havoc from Mobb Deep's "I'm the boss," and Sadat X's "Throw the Ball" and "Old Man" featuring Wu-Tang Clan's RZA, Masta Killa and Ol' Dirty Bastard in one of ODB's final video appearances.
A-F-R-O (All Flows Reach Out) is an 18-year old MC from Los Angles, CA. He first gained notoriety in 2014 for an audio submission to R.A The Rugged Man's 'Definition of a Rap Flow' contest, which quickly went viral. R.A. described the submission, saying "this kid won the contest before it even ended!" It became a platform to showcase A-F-R-O's "off the top" ability; witty word play, distinctive voice & a complexity to his rhyme schemes.
A-F-R-O quickly captured the attention of notable figures in music. Questlove is quoted as saying, "A-F-R-O is the future of Hip-Hop." Queen Latifah personally requested him to perform on her talk show. He's been invited into studio sessions with producers such as DJ Premier, Erick Sermon, Pete Rock, Prince Paul, DITC, Marco Polo & Mr. Green.
A-F-R-O has also shown that his talents extend outside the booth, as he landed a prominent role in VH1's recent show 'The Breaks.'
A-F-R-O is now prepping upcoming EPs & has a consistent tour schedule, including festival appearances at SoundSet, Splash Festival, and more.
