Mattie Safer is a D.C. native and accomplished musician set to continue his career with a debut solo live R&B tour de force on Wolf Tone.
Before this latest solo singer & songwriter endeavor, Mattie was a member of the acclaimed band The Rapture whose single 'House of Jealous Lovers' was the first release on DFA Records and pioneered the dance-punk movement. His basslines became the backbone of their songs and their success lead Mattie to perform around the world and headlining massive venues. During his time with The Rapture they were hand picked by Daft Punk to join them on their 'Alive 2007' tour and supported other legendary groups like The Cure.
Since his departure from The Rapture he has been in the studio recording and performing his new music to fans all over. His highly anticipated solo effort on Grammy Award winning producer Paul Epworth's (Adele, Florence & The Machine) Wolf Tone record label is out soon.
With a powerful & captivating sound, Mattie Safer will without question be a name to watch out for this year.
Liza Colby Sound
The Lower East Side has been good to the Liza Colby Sound. It's where they are from.
It's where they came together.
Liza was looking to put a band together and she was looking for tough players. She had done time singing hooks on rap trax but what she really wanted was a band. She knew that live, no one could touch her. She found Alec Morton and the Roth boys, three guys who had been around and played with them all. Between the three of them they had played with Ozzy, The del Fuegos, Bessid Union of Souls, Jim Carroll, and Raging Slab. Liza needed a band that could stand next to her and match her hundred watt voice.
The chemistry was immediate. Her first meeting with Adam produced two songs. Once they got together with Alec and Charly and played, the deal was sealed.
To really experience this lower east side group you have to see them live. They are the best live band out there. As one person put it:
"The Liza Colby Sound is the bastard child of Led Zepplen and Tina Turner."
Go see them and you will be converted, perverted and subverted to the Liza Colby Sound!
