YOSHIMIO(Boredoms)/IKUE MORI(DNA)/OKKYUNG LEE
YOSHIMIO is an original member of the world’s most radical experimental music group BOREDOMS from Japan. Yoshimio is known as a drummer but is a multi instrumentalist who also plays guitar, a keyboard, trumpet, and her own voice. She is also the leader of the experimental band OOIOO, a member of Free Kitten with Kim Gordon (ex. Sonic Youth), and Saicobaba – a improvisational band which uses electronics mixed with traditional Indian musical instruments.
IKUE MORI moved from her native city of Tokyo to New York in 1977. She started playing drums and soon formed the seminal NO WAVE band DNA, with fellow noise pioneers Arto Lindsay and Tim Wright.
DNA enjoyed legendary cult status, while creating a new brand of radical rhythms and dissonant sounds; forever altering the face of rock music. Current working groups include MEPHISTA with Sylvie Courvoisier and Susie Ibarra, PHANTOM ORCHARD with Zeena Parkins, project with Koichi Makigami and various ensembles of John Zorn. New duo Twindrums project with YoshimiO
OKKYUNG LEE, a New York-based artist and South Korea native, has created a body of work blurring genre boundaries through collaborations and compositions while pushing the limitation of contemporary cello performance techniques. Her music draws from noise and extended techniques, jazz, Western classical, and Korean traditional and popular music.
KILL ALTERS is built upon human suffering in many forms mental , physical , beyond the physical. Interwoven with the story of the close relationship of a little girl and her mother. A lot of the audio dates back to 1976 into the early 1990's.
OVERISHINS is Mick Barr (Krallice, Mossenek) on guitar, Chuck Bettis (Mossenek, Period) on electronics + throat, Johnny DeBlase (Many Arms, Zevious) on bass, and Mike Pride (From Bacteria To Boys, Period) on drums. Although this super group is fairly new, the circles they have run in have been tight, allowing them to share groups and stages with each other over the years. This as well as their deep rooted histories in hardcore punk, extreme metal, and avant garde jazz circles allow them to synthesize a new music which defies easy categorizations. Live performances have been extremely rare, catch them when you can!
