Jeneen Terrana
Singer/songwriter Jeneen Terrana has been gaining national and international exposure touring the US and Europe. She’s a true songstress, a powerful performer with fire and soul in her voice that comes from a wisdom far beyond her years.
Terrana grew up in Buffalo, New York, and was strongly influenced by her Sicilian grandfather who sang every Sunday after dinner. “My grandfather put on a full opera,” Terrana said, “he played all the characters himself.” She sang in rock bands in high school and became active in local theatre. After leaving Buffalo, Jeneen studied classical music and opera and began experimenting with other styles of music. With her BA in hand, she moved to New York, to dive into the local music scene.
In 2002 she released her debut album “Just Me”, a mix of gentle melodies and sarcastic wit, with songs that are both purge and console. Her award-winning album “My Creation” was released in 2007 with the title song setting the theme for the next few years. It was voted Wildy’s World “Desert Island Disc” and “Album of the Year” and the title track voted as the number one song for the New Year on the Alive with Clive TV show.
Following a three year recording hiatus, Terrana returns with “See The Light”, a fresh collection of songs showing a renewed sense of maturity and insight. Backed by acoustic guitars, mandolin, trumpets and piano, Jeneen’s earthy, soulful vocals convey her positive spirit. Her lyrics were inspired by her own journal entries from 2009-2010 and the turbulence felt in her personal life. “‘See the Light” is about just that, coming out of a dark time and feeling the sunshine again”, Terrana says. It was recorded in Lawrence, Kansas over a seven day studio session. Produced by Mike West (Shawn Mullins, Chuck Brodsky) the album features a mix of love, loss, courage and heartache, from the fun pop tune “Benny’s in My Head” to the haunting “God, I Need Comfort”.
Woodbine Falls
The atypical, and powerfully emotive sounds of Woodbine Falls draw from the many rivers of influence that comprise it. Represented within are the varied worlds of classical, jazz, blues and rock, combined with an experimental twist. This confluence produces sounds that are flowing and entrancing, with a roaring under current of crashing force.
New York City based, Woodbine Falls' unique instrumentation makes for a broad tonal palette. The sultry and distinctive vocals have shades of folk and jazz. The electric guitar stylings are classical in technique and sensibility, with a strong root in blues. With dazzling concert soloist virtuosity, the flute spins out unheard colors and effects. The gravitational pull of stand-up bass and drums set the entrancing grooves and keep it all grounded.
City On Fire
On a starry Hallow’s Eve when the moon was full and the night a mystery, Andrea Diaz ( aka Bunny Babylon ) left her apartment in search of an adventure. After scouring the usual Brooklyn haunts, she stumbled upon The Danger Party, a most mirthful gathering in a not-so-far-off warehouse, filled with goblins and ghouls, pagans and heathens, hundreds by the count. Startled by a gentle tap, she turned to discover a tall and handsome Rick James impersonator inviting her to dance. Rick James turned out to be Marc Anderson, a gifted Julliard violinist born and raised in Jamaica, Queens. Even after the night ended and the costumes were put away, it was clear that the evening’s magic was not soon to fade.
Two months later { CITY ON FIRE } was born with the addition of Marc's talented younger brother, Stephen Anderson. drummer by trade, and also a Juilliard graduate, Stephen provided the heartbeat to Marc and Andrea's melodies. After a summer full of writing, rehearsing, and riding of trains, the trio launched their career at Cameo Gallery in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. They continued to play consistently for a year in venues ranging from Crash Mansion in Manhattan to Goodbye Blue Monday in Brooklyn. Recently, they played a titillating lingerie runway show to support up and coming designers, Daisy and Elizabeth and their music will be featured in their promotional video. { CITY ON FIRE } has been featured in several music blogs including "Knocks from the Underground", and "The Solitary Hour". Andrea has been featured in the blog "Brooklyn Based" and will be featured on "I Like My Style" later this month.
In May 2011 { CITY ON FIRE } flew across the country to record at Santa Barbara Sound studio. They are currently in the process of reviewing and mixing tracks for their upcoming self-titled LP. Additionally, several new videos showcasing their sound will be released during October to promote their LP.
From rehearsing in an attic to gaining rave reviews from strangers and friends alike, it's clear that { CITY ON FIRE } is unique in its aesthetic and aural sensibilities, seamlessly integrating indie rock swagger with torch singer sensuality, creating a wondrously ethereal union of soul and sound.
