Amer "Al Mahseeri" Abdallah
Born in the Bronx, NY in 1977, Amer started his martial arts career at the age of 8. His father, a successful entrepreneur and Colonel in the Jordanian Armed Forces, immigrated to the United States through a military alliance program between the two countries.
It was under the guidance of his father that he was enrolled in a strictly Japanese based karate program under renowned trainer Ryokichi Katano at the Seishin Kan Karate school in Lockport, NY. Amer’s father was a prominent business man in the Western New York area, owning 8 McDonald’s restaurants which both he and Amer’s mother closely managed and operated.
In 1990, at the age of 13, Amer was offered an opportunity to represent the United States in Tokyo, Japan in the World Karate Championships. This was the beginning of his international competition circuit. He began training in Full Contact Kickboxing entering local, regional and national competitions and building his amateur status. After graduating high school in Lockport, NY he traveled to the Middle East and began competing on an international scene while attending college at Yarmouk University.
In 1998, he returned to Lockport, NY and opened a small Kickboxing studio in the aerobics room of a local downtown gym. He focused on his students and began training a handful of prominent athletes to local and regional championships.
The itch for competition never went away and in 1999 he decided to return to the competition circuit and challenge the North American Champion for his ISKA Light Heavyweight crown. The fight lasted less than 2 rounds as Amer earned a TKO victory in front of a sold out crowd in his hometown of Lockport, NY.
Adding to his ventures, Amer started promoting local Boxing and Kickboxing events locally and attracting masses of fans and supporters. His promotions company quickly gained much publicity and recognition attracting huge names from across the country. Some of the local talent he has featured on his events were MMA stars Sam Stout, Chris Hordecki, and Mark Hominick; Boxing superstars Verquan Kimbrough and Monty Clay; Kickboxing standouts Jim Andrello, Kim Andrello, Kevin Van Nostrand & Ed Burris. Amer took his fight promotions to an all new level as he ventured out across New York State and promoted shows in Syracuse and Rochester along with the home based Lockport events. In 2009 he expanded the promotions to Connecticut and Rhode Island with sold out crowds in each of his venues including the MGM Grand at Foxwoods Casino.
Amer had his first professional fight in October of 2000 against Canadian superstar Shawn Tompkins, who would later go on to become the most recognized MMA coach in UFC history. Amer defeated Tompkins in 4 rounds and attracted much attention in the kickboxing world. He went on to defeat New York State Champion Frank “The Goodfella” D’Ambra whom he ended up fighting twice in front of sold out crowds due to the action each fight produced.
In 2003 he claimed his first national title by defeating Ronnie Deleon for the KICK Light Heavyweight United States championship. He went on to fight Cameroon native and Muay Thai/Kickboxing superstar Francois “Bang Bang” Ambang to claim the WKA United States Light Heavyweight crown in 2011 and has been defending his title since. His recent defenses against heavy hitting TJ Gibson and martial arts standout Taiwan Howard have been amongst his most exciting fights.
Amer attributes his success from his belief and trust in God and the support he receives from his close knit family, friends, and supporters across the globe. As a devoted community minded citizen, he contributes to countless charities and organizations, which he feels are duties bestowed upon each individual citizen. As a proud Palestinian/American/Muslim, Amer is culturally rooted and proud of his ethnicity while residing in his home here in Western New York.
