PARALLELS (ex-Crystal Castles)

PARALLELS (ex-Crystal Castles)

Parallels was created when Cameron Findlay, the former drummer of Canadian electro group, Crystal Castles, teamed up with Holly Dodson in 2008. Findlay spent much of his free time on tour writing songs for what would become the foundation of Parallels' current repertoire. Through an exchange of emails with Dodson, they wrote their first single "Ultralight". Findlay returned home to Toronto at the end of the '08 tour, and switched his main focus to developing Parallels. Findlay and Dodson continued to write more material, releasing "Ultralight" as a digital single later that year, and on vinyl on Thisisnotanexit Records in London, UK.

Parallels' music has been likened to the work of Giorgio Moroder, New Order and Stevie Nicks. Dodson's vocals have been compared to Kate Bush, and true-blue era Madonna. Now Magazine rated Parallels as critic's pick for "Best Electronic act of 2009", in their "Best of Toronto" issue. Dodson represented Parallels in Flare (magazine)'s 30th anniversary issue as one of the "Hottest names to know in Canadian Music".

THE FRAIL

The Frail has already been featured on MTV, won the viewer’s choice award in Owl Magazine’s “Video Makes The Radio Star” contest, and played alongside the likes of Justice, Moby and Goldfrapp.

Over the past four years, velvet-throated vocalist Daniel Lannon and hyper-prolific producer Kevin Durr have pushed the group from a Craigslist collaboration to a stage-shattering electro-pop act worthy of national acclaim. Pop-indie hybrids, the group’s electro-tinged cuts now toe the line between falsetto homage to Michael Jackson and the hyper-literate electro experimentation of DFA acts like LCD Soundsystem.

The addition of guitarist Rob Pera and bassist Izzy Chavarin offers yet another layer of depth, cementing the group's shift from simple, party rousing dance tunes to profound pop steeped in indie intelligence.

"The Frail make a dirty sort of electro-fun that's a perfect soundtrack for both dance parties and illegal activities. Ideally: illegal dance parties." --Flavorpill

FIGO (DJ Set)

Scandalized by experimental alternative and electronic music, New York City introduces FIGO - a live act that fuses intense rock energy with pounding electro-beats and samples, influenced by groups including Primal Scream, The Misfits, and The Chemical Brothers. When not performing live, FIGO doubles as a DJ crew, devastating club dancefloors nationwide with heavy house with punk and rock mixes. With a self-titled EP self-released in 2007, FIGO has been busy garnering a strong fan-base through both live and DJ gigs at clubs across the country. Since forming in 2006, FIGO has appeared at major music festivals including Winter Music Conference, New York's Amsterjam, and South By Southwest, and have shared bills with artists including The Presets, She Wants Revenge, Trail Of Dead, and Foo Fighters. In early 2008, the band’s current single ‘PLAZA’ was remixed by acclaimed New York producer/DJ Tommie Sunshine, who will also be producing the band’s debut record releasing in Fall 2008. FIGO is vocalist/guitarist Parag Bhandari, bassist Paul Daly, guitarist Robert Rivadeneira, programmer Ryan Jones, and drummer Richard Stuverud.
