Don't formed in the spring of 2009 when four people from very disparate musical backgrounds got together to exchange musical ideas. What began as a few tentative practice sessions soon evolved with an almost alchemical ease into a cohesive group of songs. Armed with a live set of powerful and moving songs, they began playing around their native Northwest with diverse eclectic line-ups of bands to enthusiastic crowds. After nearly a year of honing their skills as a live band, DON'T has released their first full length CD album entitled "Away Away".
Featuring a line-up of seasoned musical veterans, the band boasts a resume that includes an impressive list of premier Northwest bands. The combined talents of singer Jenny Don't (LADIES OF THE NIGHT), bassist Dave Minick (The Cosmetics, Napalm Beach), guitarist Dan Lowinger (KASEY ANDERSON, KATE MANN, LANA REBEL and THE LOVE LASERS, etc.) and drummer Sam Henry (THE WIPERS, NAPALM BEACH, THE RATS, MORGAN GRACE BAND) form a genre-blurring blend that spans the musical spectrum from melodic punk rock with surf overtones to an atmospheric wall of emotive and evocative sounds. Think Siouxsie sharing a fifth of Southern Comfort with the Mermen in the back of Willie Nelson's tour bus while listening to the Wipers.

Using more effects pedals than health, timo warps twists funnels distorts loops re-sequences and otherwise destroys both his guitar and voice to provide a series of unholy chunky sounds that sounds like a combination of every bad trip in the 1960's happening at once and the screams of any hapless h.p. lovecraft protagonist gazing into the maw of eternity. It's not noise rock, it's noise rock but cut through with an improvisational aspect to the melody which gives songs a different sound from one performance to the next as timo adjusts and readjusts knobs based on what he feels at that moment, freeing psych-rock from the convention of careful, staid chord progressions. It's like if led zeppelin read moorcock rather than tolkien and stole from hard bop instead of blues. Ashley's synthbass provides an electronic, anti-organic edge which complements the guitar and vocalizations perfectly, allowing it to fill out the soundfloor in a very forceful manner. Japa's intense drumming requires some very abrupt time / tempo changes and full blast to rest staccato dexterity. The netherlands just may be the best band you've not yet seen. You owe it to yourself to change that. Shattered & heavily-treated guitars pound into focus by a primal assault of beats and shifted tempos. A vocal delivery, honest to its bloody, shredded core, forces the attention of listeners. Not a moment of pause prevails; an improvised journey from one song structure to the next weaves incessantly throughout the live performance.
