The word Araka is Spanish slang for “Watch out!” and this name fits for a group of talented musicians who have been leaving lasting impressions on the music scene over the past 5 years with their fusion of Latin grooves, reggae, rock, and ska. Based in Miami, FL, Araka have impressed their audiences with blistering hot live shows that showcase the band’s unique sound, while also paying tribute to legends of Latin-influenced music such as Santana, Los Fabulosos Cadillacs, Hector Lavoe, Fania All-Stars, Sublime, and others, but in their own inimitable style. Each member of the sextuplet brings something different to the table with their diverse cultural backgrounds. These musicians from Peru, Cuba, and the US, make up an eclectic mix that gives Araka a flavor appealing to a wide range of listeners. Araka is: Bruno Mendez (bass, lead vocals), Mikey Campillo (guitar), Chris Richards (trumpet, vocals), Greg Genova (trombone, vocals), Brad Draper (drums), and Cesar Hermosa (percussion).
