Saddles is the music of singer/songwriter Charles Barth, whose reluctance to comply with pop convention is matched only by his desire for accessibility. Crafting songs that often play out like tragic tales, Barth's lyrics bounce between cryptic metaphor and haunting honesty, soaring over crisply produced instrumentation provided almost
entirely by Barth himself. His first EP, introspectively named Shame On You, Chatterer!, saw immediate success and landed Saddles in tightly packed downtown Phoenix venues and art galleries alongside local heroes like Courtney Marie Andrews and What Laura Says. The most recent Saddles effort, THIS IS RIDICULOUS LUXURY, was put together by producers George White and Cory Spotts (The Maine, Job For a Cowboy, Greeley Estates, Kinch) and features a wide range of dynamics that have drawn comparisons to Dear and the Headlights and Manchester Orchestra. This fall, Barth has returned to work with George White to record Saddles' first full-length record which is slated for a 2012 release.
