The History of the Wine Trail -University of Saxapahaw
The year was 1850. North Carolina had 40 wineries and produced more wine than any other state in America. Andy Zeman, winemaker for Saxapahaw's Benjamin Vineyards & Winery traces the growth of the North Carolina wine industry from 1830 through prohibition. Follow the historical connections between N C State University, The Civil War, and Saxapahaw in his presentation.
On select Tuesday nights you can come be a part of the University of Saxapahaw - US University- Where Everyone is Grade A !
Classes are open and free to all (donations are welcome for the instructors) and will cover everything from history, ecology, biology, sustainable agriculture, locovore culture, cuisine, environmentalism, crafts and trades, astronomy, poetry, arts and literature. Participants will receive badges and eventually diplomas all in the spirit of learning and community.
