Hailing from Philadelphia, PA, Portland Senator is a five piece folk and Americana band known for their unique sound and musicianship. The band gives a memorable live show regardless of the venue they play. Whether it is a tiny coffee house, or spacious music club, the group is strong in both musical talent and ingenuity, and is committed to giving the audience something they will remember and feel a part of.

Drawing influences from bands like Dawes, Fleet Foxes, and Philly’s own Dr. Dog, the first full length studio album from Portland Senator, is the culmination of a two year long project in which the band wrote, rehearsed, toured, and recorded all while attending their respective universities. Released June 2011, the album was recorded live with each track being a whole take of each song. The goal was to capture the live energy of the group in a studio setting so that each song retains the honesty it has at a live show. Critics describe the record as, “Extremely well written. The tunes flow from song to song with hints of Eddie Vedder in the vocals; with less marbles in the mouth.”

With their continuing success, this summer Portland Senator is continuing to play throughout the Philadelphia area and east coast and plan on recording their second album this coming fall. The combination of their energy on stage with the originality of their music gives each show unforgettable life and character that they bring with them anywhere they go.
