The Divine Crime, Doug Means Project

The Divine Crime

Featuring the former backing band of HR from Bad Brains and funked-out vocalist Amee Jana, The Divine Crime is an all-star crew with a high energy show, song-writing power, and a contagious vibe. Representing true musicianship and serious eye candy, this new group demands attention, infusing reggae, roots, dub, dancehall, soul and jam music into a seamless combination.

Heavy & danceable grooves with layers of deep bass, synth textures, loud rippin' guitar and heart filled melodies & harmonies is what defines this group. Their mission is to empower every kind of music lover, throw fears & complacency out the door, and rock it out no matter who's staring. Conscious and soulful, the band delivers an incredibly high-powered, raw energy performance, and invites you to share their vision.

In less than a year, The Divine Crime has already had the opportunity to perform with Yellowman, Barrington Levy, Rebelution, Pato Banton, Bushman, PYRX, Mystic Roots Band, Garth Dennis from Black Uhuru & Wailing Souls, Rising Son, Myka 9 and Nadirah X, and hope to extend their love in months to come.

Doug Means Project

With some of today's music being more about the gimmick and less about the talent, the Doug Means Project (DMP) offers real music that is authentic and organic. Through the lyrics exuding the ups and downs of life, Doug believes the content will help people live their lives better. The DMP is a funky blend of rock, reggae and hip-hop. Back in the day, a small but highly trained crew assembled together to rid the world of weak music and to create a more harmonious environment for the people. But evil and insidious forces gathered together to fight against them... and the battle rages on...

DMP has performed throughout the Southern CA area at venues such as:The Derby and the Roxy in LA, and The House of Blues, Orange County Fair, and Shark Club in Orange County. In 2009, they played a concert at the Opening Ceremony of the LA Galaxy Soccer Team’s season at the Home Depot Center.

Individual members of DMP have been around the world and across the country with various recording / touring artists such as: Eek A Mouse, HR of Bad Brains, Dave Wakeling of the English Beat, Michael Rose of Black Uhuru, and others

DMP has just finished recording their second full-length CD, DMP 2.0. The album features guest appearances by Rome from Sublime with Rome, Jr. Demus, and Toko Tasi from Skunk Records. DMP 2.0 also features trombone playing by I Timothy of the Untouchables, and includes 2 bonus songs from Doug’s old band, Nobody Cares.

DMP has a strong presence on the Internet, with their website being viewed daily by hundreds of the uninitiated.

Doug Means Project's music has been featured on Fuel TV's "Standard Snowboard Show," "10 Count," and also in the NSS skateboard team's latest film.
