Julien Funk is building considerable momentum following the release of the ‘Painted Thief’ EP. Their single ‘Look Me Up’ won grand prize in the NYC Rising 2011 contest from among 800+ applicants. Since joining forces in New York from abroad (Canada [x2] with one crazy Italian) the band was off to a fast start by playing their first show during CMJ 2011. Notable New York accomplishments include performances at Webster Hall and Piano’s during the 2011 CMJ festival, shows at Arlene's Grocery, Bitter End, and Rockwood Music Hall and airplay from Q104.3FM tri-state commercial radio.
Founded by bi-coastal musicians Rachel Rossos and Michael Gallant, Aurical is the sort of indie rock band your grandmother would love: honest, polite, well-groomed, and capable of telling a damn good story.
Some Aurical stories scream with overdrive. Others undulate and throb with pulsating rhythm section grooves. Often, they simply whisper within open-hearted melodies, amplified by minimalist arrangements of piano and guitar. Aurical pulls from influences ranging from grunge, modal jazz, and Motown to folk, soul, and French art songs. The band recorded their debut album, Something to Say, in Berkeley and San Francisco, California. They currently play and record in New York City.
Ferns is a hapless crew of corporate stooges weathering the storm of modern ennui. Bent on not letting anything get the best of them, they rock out in a hodge-podge of styles that hit below the belt.
Kayla Graninger is a musician/model in New York City. She has soul, rather than just a catchy sound, and is looking to share music with everyone possible.
Straight out of New York City, East's Pop/Rock sound is fresh and alive with hard hitting lyrics, powerful vocals, driving lead guitar, smooth bass, and energetic drums. The band has an EP, I May Be Dreaming now on sale on iTunes and is currently recording their latest songs (This Kind of Love, Keep it a Secret and Stay with Me, and more) for a new LP to be released later this year. Band members are Mike Guzowski (lead vocals/guitar), Mike Valente (lead guitar/vocals), Vince Randazzo (bass guitar) and Joe Jensen (drums). Come and see the show!
Spice Hound Music Co.
Spice Hound Music co. Is a Brooklyn-based psychedelic Delta blues duo consisting of singer/guitarist David Askaryan and drummer Zach Hopper. The project was conceived by David over a six month period of isolation in upstate NY. This resulted in SHMC's debut EP "The Revival," described as "blistering dirty blues" on the Edinburgh Man radio show.
After production of the EP was completed, David moved to Brooklyn where he met his new roommate and future drummer, Zach. David's abrasive guitar style and middle-class vocals coupled with Zach's professional jazz experience allowed the duo to create a unique sound – translating to an unrestrained live show.
The 7-track EP will make its live debut on August 25th in Brooklyn, NY at an underground Brooklyn loft venue, "Where the Sidewalk Ends."
