Dot Square, Les Vinyl, Kid Felix

Dot Square
Devised in 2005, "Dot Square" is an ambitious outlook on the contrary side of the world today. With swirling guitar textures, subtle driving melodies, & dramatic rhythms, "Dot Square" tackles the mind and aims straight for the mood.
Les Vinyl is a rock and roll band. Their sound is upbeat but they try to be cool about it. They don't over complicate things. The "standard" two guitars, bass, and drums set up, is a platform for songwriting that is familiar while still being, at times, unconventional. "Quirky and Catchy" are common descriptions of this very original Staten Island treasure.
Front-man and lead guitarist Casey Jost, a writer for Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, applies clever wordplay over distinctive guitar parts. Jenny Miller provides a tight rhythm guitar style along with tender and breathy backing vocals. The drum and bass section balances the treble-heavy leads. Pat Given on drums and bassist Mike Carlo have the ability to dynamically go from a soft pulse to loud thunder while always remaining faithful to the intentions of the songwriting.
The songs always come first with these talented young musicians. Yet, that is not say there isn't room for improvisation. The loose nature of their live performance offers the audience a break from the over-produced world of pop but the familiarity of likable hooks and tones.
In a short time, Les Vinyl has managed to win over fans in several scenes. They've played shows with punk bands, pop outfits, and even surf rockers. After a show smack-dab in the middle of 4 hardcore bands, several face-studded attendees mentioned how refreshing Les Vinyl sounded. On the other side of the spectrum, they were much appreciated after opening for the folk-pop singer Ingrid Michaelson.
They've been building up steam, playing shows in the NYC area in recent months have released their first full-length album 'Bright Gray.' A new EP due out this summer.
Formed in May 2011, Kid Felix has already made an impression on the Philadelphia music scene. The six-piece rock band from Laurel Springs, New Jersey takes cues from bands such as Brand New, Kings of Leon and Manchester Orchestra, while producing a musical style and sound experience that is unmistakeably Kid Felix. Consisting of Jake Falana (vocals), John Ambrutis (lead guitar), Brett Hagen (guitar), Julian Ungerer (bass), Ken Baxter (keyboards), and John Szachewicz (drums). The band is on the heels of its first official EP, and with it's release, they hope to begin touring to reach new audiences while maintaining continued success among fans in the Philly area who gave them their start.
