The Dearloves (Album Release Party!)

The Dearloves (Album Release Party!)

With echoes of rock n roll's forefathers and bastard children alike resonating through their amplifiers, The Dearloves bring to you a sound both classic and beautifully original. A combined century of musical absorption among them distills down to both male and female vocals pouring over solid, driving drums and searing guitars with a living energy. They come at you straight and look you in the eye. Intelligently constructed and performed with unforgiving conviction & clarity, their songs are nearly impossible to lock into a specific genre, opting rather to wander through many different rooms with many different sounds. Imagine the child of The Beatles & Nirvana, born in the bathroom of CBGB's and raised in a commune inhabited by Bob Dylan, Stevie Nicks, and The Verve. The Dearloves wants to take you somewhere and show you something.

Eastern Hollows

Eastern Hollows are a Brooklyn band featuring Travis DeVries (vocals, guitar), Martin Glazier (vocals, guitar), Sean Gibbons (guitar), Brian Brennan (bass), and Jeremy Sampson (drums). Fascinated by the lush guitar pop of Ride and the Stone Roses, Eastern Hollows return to these bands' Nuggets-era touchstones to create a haunting blend of timeless jangle-psych, late-1980s Manchester and au courant Brooklyn. A string of East Coast shows laid the groundwork for June's digital release of the EP Days Ahead, recorded this spring with engineer Chris Pace (Smoke and Mirrors) and mastered by Dan Millice (Engine Room Audio). Retreating to a warehouse space in Bushwick, Eastern Hollows emerged with a riveting suite of songs that fuse the rich texture of British shoegaze with the immediacy of classic pop. The band's sound has attracted the attention of rising star producer Chris Coady (Beach House, Smith Westerns). Eastern Hollows will record a full-length album this summer and will continue to play shows in and around Brooklyn in support of the new material. Travis formed Eastern Hollows in the wake of the success of The Turn-ons, whom Spin listed as one of its ``100 Greatest Bands You (Probably) Never Heard.'' The Turn-ons played sold-out shows with The Strokes and Interpol and were touted by R.E.M.'s Peter Buck as his ``favorite new Seattle band'' [Q]. In 2009 Travis's solo project deVries released Death to God on Noise on Noise to widespread acclaim. Legendary producer Kramer (Galaxie 500, Low, Sufjan Stevens) declared the album ``fucking genius,'' The Deli called it ``a fine shoegaze-pop record,'' and Incendiary proclaimed it ``possibly the greatest Manchester album never to have been made in Manchester.''

Mr Tough

Mr. Tough was formed in Harlem, NY in the spring of 2010 by jazz pianist Stephen Okonski and rock and roll drummer Justin James Hampton. The Sugar Hill area of Harlem where they reside has long been the stomping grounds of monumental virtuosos, including Miles Davis and Duke Ellington. Surrounded constantly by grooves, riffs, and funk, Justin and Stephen decided to combine their respective talents into one unstoppable groove machine. The result Is Mr. Tough, a dance inducing, sex encouraging, thought provoking escape from the enormous amounts of bullshit so many sorry souls listen to today. Mr. Tough is about life in the city..the danger, the excitement, the nightlife, the music, the women. Mr. Tough is an ode to the greats, an attempt to put some class into dance music and change how people view Harlem, jazz, drums, and the organ.
