Infantree record release party
Like a word on the tip of your tongue that doesn't even exist yet, Infantree manages to be so completely encompassing of all things music, yet so consistently themselves that you feel familiar with their music from the moment you hear it. Infantree’s members, now in their early twenties, were born and bred in Los Angeles and the influence their provenance has had on their music is clear. Southern California’s proximity to Central and South America and the cities rich Latino culture is heard in the guitar work of Alex Vojdani whose proficiency in classical and flamenco guitar has a notable impact on the band’s sound. Add to that Laurel Canyon era harmonies and a touch of 70’s rock and you get their driving, melodic and sometimes haunting signature sound.
Jeremy Lyon and Zak Mandel-Romann formed Tumbleweed Wanderers in March 2011. Sharing a mutual admiration of the "O Brother Where Art Thou" soundtrack, Marvin Gaye's "Let's Get it On" and Fleet Foxes "Ragged Wood" the two left college to pursue music full-time. They recruited keyboardist Patrick Glynn, who Zak has played with since he was ten, drummer Daniel Blum, who Jeremy met when he was sweeping the floors of a recording studio, and Rob Fidel, who Jeremy met at an open mic on the first day of college. As of now, they're working on their debut record, as well as performing anywhere and everywhere from clubs to open mics to busking on the street.
Dreamy ‘60’s soundscapes and doo-wop harmonies with an aggressively talented female front… Like Amy Winehouse went on holiday with Vampire weekend” is MTV’s reflection of the newest indie band to hit the music scene, The Royalty. Best described as soulful, female led indie-pop band, The Royalty’s sound has a retro influence ranging from the 1960’s rock and roll to 1970’s soul music, in the vein of Adele and Sleigh Bells. This close knit band is comprised of singer Nicole Boudreau, guitarist Jesus Apodaca, bassist Will Daugherty, keyboardist Daniel Marin and drummer Joel Quintana.
In November 2011, The Royalty signed to Victory Records and their first full-length debut album, Lovers, released on May 8, 2012. Already receiving high praise for their single “How I Like ‘Em”, The Royalty gives listeners an escape into a breezy indie musical wonderland. “It’s like listening to a mix tape of your favorite bands all in one band… The Royalty channels their inner No Doubt and blend their sound with likes of Arcade Fire and Vampire Weekend. They do that all in the way where they sound original all to themselves. They’re on the same path as Fitz, the Tantrums and Foster the People have trail blazed before them.” explained WGN-TV (America), Music Lounge.
