Katy & Go-Go is the duo comprised of vocalist and guitarist Katy Guillen (The B’Dinas, Claire & The Crowded Stage) and drummer extraordinaire Go-Go Ray (Mike Dillon’s Go-Go Jungle, Samantha Fish, John Velghe). They hit the Kansas City stages in January of 2011, securing a steady monthly gig at The Brick’s Rhythm, Roots, and Soul Saturday Matinee. Katy was born and raised in Overland Park, KS. Go-Go is originally from Dallas, Texas. The two were brought together by a mutual friend with a shared desire to execute a new creative project. Initially, they had no intention beyond exploring and testing the musical waters of possibility. As a result of the two proficient players’ ability to mix it up on the fly, a fusion of funk, blues, country, rock, and soul mingle to form the sound that reflects the power duo Katy & Go-Go.The music resulting from Go-Go’s years of experience with a variety of players from diverse musical backgrounds, and touring all over the world combined with Katy’s youthful old soul, rock edged style is the “soulful rock” sound that can be heard on their debut album “When I Get Away”.
