Roger Rodd
A versatile actor, writer, and stand-up comic, Rodd has consistently applied his ingenuity in taking his career to the next level. Aware of the glut of white stand-up comics, Rodd embarked on a successful plan to make a niche for himself as a “white stand-up comic” performing in primarily black nightclubs. At first glance, both club owners and audiences were surprised, but Rodd’s talent quickly won out and he was warmly embraced by cheering crowds. This has led to recent appearances including Showtime’s comedy special “White Boyz in the Hood,” P. Diddy’s “Bad Boys of Comedy, ”Bill Bellamy’s “Who’s Got Jokes?”, and several appearances on BET’s “Comicview.” When not on an international tour entertaining the U.S. troops or headlining comedy clubs across the nation, Rodd is also a frequent local performer at The Improv, Comedy Store, and The Laugh Factory in Los Angeles.
Aside from Rodd’s on-going stand up work, his first love remains acting. He holds in highest regard his successful accomplishment of writing, producing, and performing his critically acclaimed solo show “Footsteps“. He has appeared in many feature films, co-starring opposite Brandon Routh in “Behind The Plank” and guest starring as “Billy Bob” in “NTV,” produced by Eddie Griffin. He can be seen this fall on the premier of The NFL Network’s “After Further Review”. In addition to lead roles in films such as “Payback” and “Chance,” Rodd has appeared in many soap operas, including “The Young and the Restless” and “General Hospital,” as well as commercials.
On the poker front, Rodd is currently the color analyst on the upcoming Fox Sports broadcast of “World Team Poker”, while presiding as the poker instructor at the Commerce Casino, recognized as the world’s largest poker establishment. He also serves as a Tournament Director and Host for Celebrity Poker Tournaments and will soon be heard on his own poker radio show "Flophouseradio"
