BOS Night #1: The Electric People, Tender Lion, Mammox, Drunk Monk

// ELECTRIC PEOPLE ( E )
PRESS: THE VINYL DISTRICT ///
"You can expect some wear-your-sunglasses-indoors-so-they-can’t-see-how-pinned-your-pupils-are-rock from Electric People. I can definitely hear some serious Jesus & Mary Chain and Velvet Underground influence in the confident swagger of this gang of seven."
"This band uses the standard guitar/drums/bass configuration as a foundation for a layering of complex, but well played and cohesive sounds including organs, piano and several vocalists. This dose of Brooklyn will make you feel like you took the best downers from your rich aunt’s medicine cabinet without the liver damage or any danger of overdosing. And if you start hallucinating that you’re hanging out with Andy Warhol, I mean, that’s not ever a bad thing, right?"

BIO: ELECTRIC PEOPLE ///
Electric People was formed by singer/multi-instrumentalist/writer/visionary and aspiring producer Adam Buscek (B) in late '08 as a solo-recording project in Brooklyn, New York. Adam started Electric People while playing bass guitar/vocals in the post-punk New York Power Trio, The Black Tie Party, led by lead singer/guitarist Jay Honstetter (current Freshkills) and drummer Larry Gorman (current Asobi Seksu / ex: Head Automatica).
In the summer of 2009, Adam separated from BTP to take Electric People from the bedroom to the stage. He sought out drummer Jesse Katz along with bassist Daniel Kasshu and began playing shows a few weeks later, the first at KGB, an intimate venue on the Bowery. During the gig, Adam's closest friend Sarah Caye (K), a singer/percussionist/and fashion artist/designer, picked up a tambourine and played the second half of the set. Ever since that day, Sarah has been a key factor in Electric People's progression with her overall creative drive to succeed, uncompromising attitude, and iconic appeal. Electric People was born.
The group went from a three piece band to six person stomp within one year. The current line-up is better sounding than any previous to date. Christopher Fernicola on drums with modern-day Keith Moon feels. Accomplished blues/overdriven bassist Aaron Nystrup thumping away on the low end. Berkley Graduate and mastering engineer Kevin Blackler was added on the B3 organ. And last but certainly not least, guitar virtuoso Jeremy Kolmin joined up on lead guitar/effects. With this pack of six, Electric People went from band to big band. Louder. Bigger. Better than ever, playing packed shows from the Bowery to Beauty Bar Brooklyn.
Influence in regards to recording platforms and sound manipulation for Electric People almost entirely stems from Phil Spector's "Wall of Sound" approach, angular over-driven instrumentation and hard pop overtones. They take the hooks of early Beach Boys/Beatles along with classic 50's/60's (girl groups/pop bands) and mash it up with a Velvets/Brian Jonestown Massacre swagger...add a twist of 90's grunge, and it all comes together: tomorrow with a dash of today, creating something entirely postmodern. Nothing in the group is pre-programmed. All instrumentation is live and conducted by Adam and Sarah, virtually moving the band with their bodies and movements. Live shows are infamous.
Thus far, Electric People have written over 100 songs, recorded countless demos, 2 digital singles, and 5 analog sessions (still being mixed).
