The Talent Show presents: Summer CAMP!

The Talent Show embraces spectacle, surprise, limited participation from willing audience members, zaniness, grandeur and commitment. Each show has a theme. Every show is surprising. Featuring hostesses Elna Baker and Kevin Townley.

Ira Glass

Ira Glass started working in public radio in 1978, when he was 19, as an intern at NPR's headquarters in DC. Over the next 17 years, he worked on nearly every NPR news show and did nearly every production job they had: tape-cutter, desk assistant, newscast writer, editor, producer, reporter, and substitute host. He spent a year in a high school for NPR, and a year in an elementary school, filing stories for All Things Considered. He moved to Chicago in 1989 and put This American Life on the air in 1995.

Amber Tamblyn

Amber Tamblyn was born and raised in Venice, California and is a 3rd generation Californian. She has been a writer and actress since the age of 9. She has been nominated for an Emmy, Golden Globe and Independent Spirit Award for her work in television and film. In 2007 she won the Locarno Film Festival award for Best Actress for her work in the film “Stephanie Daley”, in which she starred opposite actress Tilda Swinton. She most recently appeared in FOX’s television show “HOUSE” and in Danny Boyle’s critically acclaimed film, “127 Hours” opposite James Franco. She will next appear in Horton Foote’s “Main Street” opposite Colin Firth. Amber is most recognized for her work as Joan on the CBS television program “Joan of Arcadia”.

Joan Juliet Buck

Joan Juliet Buck was born in Los Angeles, grew up in Paris, London, and Ireland, and was educated at the French Lycée. At 10 she starred in Walt Disney’s GREYFRIARS BOBBY. After studying under Wilford Leach and Joe Chaikin at Sarah Lawrence, she joined Glamour as book critic at 19, and became Features editor of BRITISH VOGUE at 23. As a writer she has been a Contributing Editor to AMERICAN VOGUE, VANITY FAIR and CONDE NAST TRAVELER. Her profiles and essays also appeared in The New Yorker. The author of two novels, and for seven years the editor in chief of Paris Vogue, she is a founding member of the website wowOwow. As an actress, she is Madame Brassart in Nora Ephron’s Julie & Julia, and Mrs Prest in the Mariana Hellmund version of “The Aspern Papers”. She has been seen in numerous documentaries, from “Paris Brothel“ (Mark Kidel, 2003) to “Black White & Gray” (James Crump, 2008).

Dave Hill

Dave Hill is a writer, performer, musician, actor, comedy-type person, artist, and thinking man living in the Big City, New York to be exact. He has written for the New York Times, Salon, HBO, Blender, The Huffington Post, and so much more. He stared in the show “King of Miami” on the MOJO network, and has also appeared on MTV, Comedy Central, VH1, and Cartoon Network.Dave hosts the hit show The Dave Hill Explosion at UCB Theater, and is also a member of rockin' bands like Valley Lodge, Children of the Unicorn and his most recent outfit, Diamond Snake. Dave wrote an amazing book called "Tasteful Nudes," published by St. Martin’s Press. You should definitely buy it.

Lucy Wainwright Roche

Lucy Wainwright Roche is a member of a musical family, but somehow she still decided to become a working musician. Her new album, Lucy, just came out.

Eugene Mirman

Brooklyn resident (and Russian immigrant) Eugene Mirman is a really great guy and comedian. Eugene has appeared on television, which is still a relevant medium for another few years. Some examples include: his own half hour special on Comedy Central, appearances on Conan O’Brien, a recurring role on HBO’s Flight of the Conchords, Bob's Burgers, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Home Movies, Lucy, Daughter of the
Devil and the Adult Swim live action series Delocated.

Bobby Tisdale

Bobby Tisdale is a writer and comedian who has been a staple of the New York comedy scene for years. Along with Eugene Mirman, Bobby was the co-host of the wildly popular weekly show Invite Them Up in the East Village, which was the recipient of a Nightlife Award, and was recorded for a CD that was released on Comedy Central Records. He is currently a writer for Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and runs an invite-only comedy show show in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.
