Whitehorse return to the USA following their 2011 release of
Progression (At A Loss) and US tour with The Body. This time bringing with them 3 new split releases with friends Batillus, Cross and Hot Graves.
Whitehorse gathers together members of Melbourne Australia's
underground music community to create crushingly heavy, sludge-metal layered with electronics. Drafting members from the punk, grindcore, experimental, rock and noise scenes Whitehorse often garner comparisons to the likes of Corrupted and Khanate.
This their 3rd US tour sees them play 35 dates across the country
including 2 appearances at Chaos In Tejas in Austin, TX.
Not to be missed by fans of the crushingly heavy.
"It's not so much the feverish, rabid, frothing at-the-mouth imp-ish
vocals that make Progression horrifically dark. It's the murk around
them: the dragging static and hanging distortion, the echoing empty spaces and rolling waves of sound... Whitehorse handle havoc deftly: in a covert, convincing manner that could influence an entire genre of musicians. 8/10" - Decibel
Originally conceived in 2007 as an instrumental trio, Batillus' (pronounced 'buh-TILL-us') lineup expanded in 2009 to add vocals and synth. Since then, the band's lineup has been consistent and they have released a pair of EPs, three splits, and a full-length.
In May, 2010, Batillus recorded their debut full-length record in Chicago with engineer Sanford Parker (Yob, Rwake, Unearthly Trance, Nachtmystium, Pelican). The record, called 'Furnace,' was released in the spring of 2011 via Seventh Rule Recordings in North America and the UK and Vendetta Records in continental Europe.
In July of 2011, Brooklyn's Shinebox Recordings released a split seven-inch featuring Batillus and fellow Brooklynites Mutilation Rites and in May of 2012 Vendetta Records will release a 12" split featuring Batillus and Australia's Whitehorse.
The band will be recording material for their second full-length LP before 2012 is out, to be released in early 2013.
