Let's get this straight….right out of the gate!
In an industry filled with every label and genre known to man, Jason & The Haymakers are a true, original American Country band. Whether you call it Traditional Country, Americana, Roots Rock or Rock 'N' Roll, they simply get it done.
Filled with influences across the board, the story filled, guitar infused melodies, echo the life and experiences of front man Jason Bertrand. Throw in the rowdiness of The Haymakers, extremely loyal fans and you've got yourself some music you just have to experience live.
The past few years has seen Jason & The Haymakers on countless stages with some of the biggest acts in Country Music. The band has earned the respect of fans and venues alike by refusing to compromise their standards. The true to life, original songwriting is a rarity in today's music. This is NO cover band!
So come out to the next stop on the road and experience the music for yourself. Grab an ice cold "Red, White & Blue" and become one of the legions of "Rough and Rowdy Friends".
We are an Outlaw Country band, we play songs from the old and the new outlaws. We refuse to play the old and tired "standard" country covers, and we refuse to play the new cheezy country you hear on the radio today. Stroker-Red started in the back of a hole in the wall bar with two guys (Grant "Stroker" Stoker and Chad "Red" Carlson) pickin and tradin their favorite songs back and forth for just a few lingering bar patrons. Then after a few open mics down the road in downtown DeKalb they were asked to open for a country band coming to town from Chicago. Well they decided it would be best to put together a full band. So they picked up drummer (Cory Moore) and he convinced the lead guitar player (Andy Wood) to quit the other band they were in and "turn" country. Then they rounded out the sound with the bass player (Alex "The Dark Squirrel" DeForrest)and got together and learned 20 songs in 4 weeks! They haven't looked back since. After forming in Early August of 2009 they have played over 50 dates, from dive bars to festivals. Always putting on a rocking show and getting people up to dance, and introducing them to this new brand of outlaw country rock!
