The Sword

"Not to be confused with the Canadian heavy metal band from the late '80s, named simply Sword, the Sword are a retro-metal four-piece hailing from -- of all places -- the singer/songwriter oasis of Austin, TX. First conceived in 2003, the Sword really hit their stride about a year later, when founding vocalist and guitarist J.D. Cronise joined forces with guitarist Kyle Shutt, bassist Bryan Richie, and drummer Trivett Wingo, and made a much raved-over appearance at Austin's famed SXSW festival. National touring stints with everyone from Clutch to indie rock darlings ...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead followed, and by mid-2005 the Sword had been picked up by New York-based indie label Kemado Records, with their much-anticipated debut album, Age of Winters, appearing early the next year. Before completing their second album, they contributed two songs (one original and one Led Zeppelin cover) to a split 12" EP with Swedish heavy rockers Witchcraft in November 2007. Gods of the Earth arrived in spring 2008. Changing their muse from fantasy to science fiction, the Sword released Warp Riders in 2010, a concept album featuring an original narrative written by the band." - Eduardo Rivadavia, AllMusicGuide

RED FANG is the latest effort from long time bros and collaborators Bryan Giles (Last of the Juanitas, Party Time), Aaron Beam (Dark Forces, Lachrymator), David Sullivan (Party Time, facedowninshit, Shiny Beast) and John Sherman (Party Time, Bad Wizard, Trumans Water, All Night). The four have boiled down their disparate sounds to create the ONLY sound: RED FANG.

KYNG originated in January of 2008 in Los Angeles, CA. by bassist Tony Castañeda, singer/guitarist Eddie Veliz, and drummer Pepe Clarke Magaña. The three decided to come together and start a project that could incorporate all of their musical influences into one sound; that sound was a combination of classic rock fortified with modern, hard rock styles creating the new sound of California heavy music. KYNG drew inspiration from legendary bands such as Black Sabbath, Pantera, Soundgarden, Led Zeppelin, and The Who; combined them with modern influences as diverse as Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age, and Down; and evolved, from a very heavy and aggressive proposition, into a unique, universally appealing rock sound with heavy intonations. "We decided to form a band that would be able to take the shape and form of anything on the scene to maintain a cross-over ability and ended up with a sound that does exactly that." KYNG's purpose is to be the next big band with appeal to a vast audience, but reaching our demographic through the heavier side of the commercial spectrum; breaking new ground using classic vocals of rock meshed with powerful guitar riffs and a versatile and aggressive rhythm section. KYNG's drive and desire to succeed will undoubtedly continue to take their music to new levels which will showcase their ability to evolve with the market, but never lose their identity.
