Ellis Ashbrooke

Ellis Ashbrook is not shy on telling everyone who can hear that they're a genre-bending band which echoes the sounds of Led Zeppelin, David Bowie, Frank Zappa, Talking Heads, and Ween. With an additional Bread & Puppet philosophy, now imagine young people getting themselves down and dirty playing licks and riffs, with a vocal styling uniquely old school - then you get Ellis Ashbrook.

Bugs in the Dark

"Not many bands do it like Bugs in the Dark. Here's a group that wrap their sound up tightly, and unleash it just as strongly. The three-piece places charging riffs under singer Karen Rockower's soul-shaking vocals to weave a punishing set together that takes no prisoners. No reason to miss the Sonic Youth of years ago, this band is every bit as devastating and noisy, but you'll love the abuse." - The Deli Magazine

Apollo Run is a three-piece rock band based in Brooklyn. We play music the way music is supposed to be played. We make weird faces onstage because we forget people are watching us. We sweat. We harmonize, even when we're completely out of breath. We sometimes have a horn section, because horns are awesome. We always sweat some more. We walk away from shows utterly exhausted and completely energized at the same time.

We've been told that we kind of sound like Muse, but a less dystopian version. We've also drawn comparisons to Queen, but we're way too humble to admit that. I tell you what...just Google "Apollo Run" and check out our music for free. We've got videos on YouTube and Vimeo. Our first two EPs (Here Be Dragons, Vol I & II) are streaming on our website: www.apollorun.com. If you like what you hear, buy them. Or tell a friend about us. Or like us on Facebook. In the meantime, we're just gonna write more music.

And now a word from our sponsors...

"Too good to pass up...Listen, learn, love." - Huffington Post
"The group merits far more widespread attention than it's received thus far..." - NPR.org
"John McGrew sounds uncannily like Jeff Buckley with some Freddie Mercury-worthy grandstanding thrown in...the band sustains a record-perfect clarity in performance." - The Village Voice

The Dead Exs

At the crossroads of East Houston and 2nd Avenue in NYC, The Dead Exs summon the gods of Blues and Rock & Roll recording LIVE in the studio with dp (David Pattillo) on electric slide guitar and vocals and Wylie Wirth on the skins. In July 2011, The Dead Exs were voted "NYC Artist of The Month" by The Deli Magazine.

In just a year the band has released a full length debut, generated buzz from blogs, been licensed by Quiksilver, and received thousands of views on Youtube. Their single “More Stuff” is gaining attention at radio, and even charted Top 5 on Twitter.

Pattillo's love for the upbeat raw recordings of Howlin' Wolf and the garage rock of The Sonics inspired him to go back to his roots and record a true to life thrashing blues record.

Pattiillo is a producer with a credit list from Alanis Morrissette to the The Hold Steady, The Black Crowes to the Beastie Boys and last year produced the Reni Lane debut for Universal Motown including the song “Place For Us” which was featured on several TV shows, remixed by a handful of electronic producers, and favorited on viral sites like Hype Machine and Twitter. Wirth has toured extensively in Europe and the US with various bands such as acclaimed blues artist Will Scott, and the Warner Bros act Sweet Lizard Illtet.

Brothers

Brooklyn's own BROTHERS bring back the kind of soulful, scuzzy,
harmony-soaked rock & roll and country that made the '60s and '70s so
sexy—back when the barn was stocked with whiskey, bands knew how to
dance, and bros were bros. Stompin', clappin', hootin', hollerin',
boozin', lootin', easy-ridin' rock 'n roll.

Thinning The Herd

New York based trio THINNING THE HERD's brand of hard driving, original psychedelic rock has been praised by many, including Guitar Player Magazine; likening them to the MC5 and the Velvet Underground.

The Nico Blues

The Nico Blues are an alternative indie rock band from the North Jersey/NYC area. Our debut EP was recorded, engineered, and produced by the band in a studio we built from scratch. Keep checking back for show updates. We are currently tracking our second album, for release in early 2010.
