Nadja is a duo of Aidan Baker and Leah Buckareff alternately based in Toronto, Canada and Berlin, Germany. Nadja creates heavy atmospheric music which combines noise and electronics, ambient and shoegaze, and metal and industrial sounds. As a duo, Nadja has been active since 2005, touring and performing around the world, and have released numerous albums on such labels as Alien8 Recordings, Hydrahead Records, and Robotic Empire. Their most recent full-length, Sv, was released in March 2016 by Essence Music, accompanied by a vinyl re-issue of their 2014 album Queller on the band's own label, Broken Spine Productions.
Creating a personal soundtrack to the human psyche’s underbelly, Insect Ark weaves a brooding, textural landscape with delay-drenched lap steel guitar, distorted bass & synths, and acoustic / electronic drums. Started in late 2011 as a the one-woman solo project of bassist/multi-instrumentalist Dana Schechter (M. Gira’s Angels of Light (Swans)/Bee and Flower), the band became a duo in Jan 2015 with the addition of Portland-based drummer Ashley Spungin (Taurus). Schechter performs solo when Spungin is on the west coast.
OVERISHINS is Mick Barr (Krallice, Mossenek) on guitar, Chuck Bettis (Mossenek, Period) on electronics + throat, Johnny DeBlase (Many Arms, Zevious) on bass, and Mike Pride (From Bacteria To Boys, Period) on drums. Although this super group is fairly new, the circles they have run in have been tight, allowing them to share groups and stages with each other over the years. This as well as their deep rooted histories in hardcore punk, extreme metal, and avant garde jazz circles allow them to synthesize a new music which defies easy categorizations. Live performances have been extremely rare, catch them when you can!
