Born in Haiti and adopted into the Northland, Al Sands attained early recognition as a Golden Gloves boxer, compiling a stellar record of 18-3. Sands went on to win the Upper Midwest Golden Gloves Championship, sought after by many, yet attained by few. Sands went on to compete at the national level and eventually turn pro.
Dubbed the “Haitian Temptation,” Sands connects his Haitian descent with his American upbringing. When asked his ultimate goal, Sands immediate reply, “win a world title.” “This is easily within his grasp, said Zach ‘Jungle Boy’ Walters, Sands’ coach. “He brings fast hands and deep ring-smarts every time he competes. Each fight is preceded by weeks of peak training. Al is consistently honing his skills, each fight is a newer, better, version of his pro boxing form,” added Walters.
