The debut album We Can Take This Boat from New York based saxophonist and composer Alex Lopez has been receiving heavy praise from numerous top saxophonists in the world. In this album Lopez draws inspiration from influences as diverse as Bruce Lee, John Coltrane, Maurice Ravel, and Ben Folds. As a film aficionado his original music draws from the programmatic styles of some of the greatest film composers and features some of the top young jazz musicians today.
Lauren Falls
Canadian Bassist Lauren Falls has come a long way from the small town of Port Alberni BC and is making a big impact on the New York jazz performance scene playing at venues such as Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola, Cornelia St Cafe, Fat Cat and Cleopatras Needle. Having toured all over North America and England, Ms Falls has performed at the Kennedy Center and at jazz festivals including The Mary Lous Williams Jazz Festival in Washington DC, Ottawa International Jazz Festival and The Vail Jazz Festival. Ms Falls has been an artist-in-residance at The Betty Carter jazz ahead program, has performed at The Rivinia Steans Institute and was a member of The Sisters in Jazz of the IAJE.
