In summer 2014 New York City band Gladshot released Maxwell's Cool Demon, a new EP produced by John Agnello (Kurt Vile) that features Debbie Andrews' and Mike Blaxill's shared vocals and songwriting, and combines elements of rock, pop, groove, garage and folk with insistent guitars, B3 organ, piano and Wurlitzer keyboard sounds. After a show last fall RadioStatic Philly added them to their "Dept of Amazing Out of Town Bands." They are also developing Barcode, a dystopian futuristic rock n roll musical written with HAiR co-creator Jim Rado
Purples is a rock band from Philadelphia. They try to make sense of this chaotic universe and of course they fail. Their music is a pleasant byproduct of this failure. The music is played by Peter, Brian, and Jonas.
Teen Men is a Wilmington, DE / Philadelphia, PA based collaboration between two musicians and two visual artists. Teen Men includes members of the Spinto Band (singer Nick Krill and guitarist Joe Hobson) and their new music takes a similar pop aesthetic and dedication to songwriting inspired by Quincy Jones' work with Michael Jackson and mixes it with samples and electronic / ambient tones reminiscent of Vangelis. The visual artists (Photographer Catharine Maloney and Filmmaker Albert Birney) add an important element to the group, most notably a video projection synced to the live show that the band and audience members interact with.
Summer Salt is a surf pop trio from Austin, TX. With influences of bossa nova and 60's rock, they create the perfect soundtrack for chillaxin' by the pool. The happy music will surely appeal to you and your parents. Their latest 7" EP, Going Native was released on Austin Town Hall Records.
