With 100 million records sold worldwide and two prestigious Diamond Awards to their credit, Def Leppard--Joe Elliott (vocals), Vivian Campbell (guitar), Phil Collen (guitar), Rick "Sav" Savage (bass) and Rick Allen (drums)—continues to be one of the most important forces in rock music. Over the course of their career, the band has produced a series of classic groundbreaking albums that set the sound for generations of music fans and artists alike. The group’s spectacular live shows, filled with powerful melodic rock anthems, have become synonymous with their name. For the past thirty years the band’s concerts have become must-see events and have quickly made them an institution in the touring industry, as they continue to sell out arenas worldwide.
In a time when most music is manipulated, copied, pasted and auto tuned in digital recording studios, the question that always begs to be answered now more than ever is, "But, can they play it live?" Well, Poison can and always have. But, in the case of Poison, to just expect the music to sound good live is to short change the entire phenomenon. While nothing replaces actually being at an open air concert, today's technology does allow us to capture the experience like never before. Hi Def cameras, state of the art lighting, mind-blowing camera stabilizers and top notch recording technology now can capture the action like never before. Live, Raw & Uncut is like a journey into the radical world of Poison's live show.
Professional performing musicians are never satisfied with their entire performance and so many of these recorded concerts are performed and recorded several times to find the best of the batch. Not so in the case of Live, Raw & Uncut. Poison decided that what you get live is what you get on the DVD. So, what do you get? Passion! Fun! Fury! Intensity! All in all, you get what you get at a Poison concert! What don't you get? You get no predictability and Poison likes it that way!
Playing live is what Poison is all about. The music acts as a soundtrack to their live show. If you are an avid Poison fan, this gem is a must have for your collection. If you have never seen Poison live, you'll be convinced that this is a band to be reckoned with.
Recorded live in St. Louis on the Poison 2007 Summer tour, Live, Raw & Uncut serves as time travel through Poison's 21-plus year career. All the hits are here: From their first hits, "Talk Dirty To Me," "Ride The Wind," and "Fallen Angel," to remakes like "Your Momma Don't Dance"and "What I Like About You," to their power ballad hits like "Every Rose Has It's Thorn"and "Somethin' To Believe In," along with heavy rockers like "Look What The Cat Dragged In."
Yes, Poison is alive, well and most certainly "Live, Raw & Uncut". Enjoy the experience!!!
As a teenager in the late 1970's, Lita Ford was a founding member and lead guitarist of the pioneering all-female rock group, The Runaways. Lita, along with band members Joan Jett, Sandy West, Jackie Fox, and Cherie Currie, not only proved that girls could rock, but they could do it with the best of them. From the bands beginning to their eventual breakup in 1979, Lita Fords guitar playing provided much of the force behind the bands ground-breaking sound.
The Runaways have influenced countless musicians over the years, both male and female. Bands such as The Donnas, Bikini Kill, and L7 wear their influence as a badge of honor, while other all-female groups like The Bangles, The Go-Go's, or Precious Metal may not have had the opportunity to exist without the doors opened by The Runaways.
The 1980's began the solo career of Lita Ford. With the release of albums such as Out for Blood, Dancin' on the Edge, and Lita, she was well on her way to earning the title of "The Queen of Metal".
As a solo artist Lita had the freedom to lean more to the hard side of rock n' roll. Hit singles Kiss Me Deadly and Close My Eyes Forever, a duet with metal master Ozzy Osbourne, took Lita to new heights both commercially and artistically. Kiss Me Deadly was named one of the best hard rock songs of all time by VH1, while Close Me Eyes Forever is featured Karaoke Revolution Presents: American Idol Encore.
Lita (pictured left with Alice Cooper) continued her solo success with a string of well received albums into the 1990's.
After a long self-imposed break from the crazy world of the music industry, Lita Ford returned to the stage in 2008 at the Rocklahoma music festival and to the studio with 2009's Wicked Wonderland. The future is on fire for The Queen of Metal, Lita Ford.
