New Feature! Purchase Questions Help You Get to Know Your Customers

March 14, 2012

by Amy Miller, Community Manager

Howdy, Fly friends! Ticketfly has got a new feature on the books that we think will really excite promoters and customers – Purchase Questions! OK, it might not sound that exciting. Don’t worry, your fans don’t need to pass any standardized tests to get into your event. It’s much cooler than that. No Scantrons or hanging chads involved. Ticketfly’s Purchase Questions give promoters the ability to gather valuable customer information during the ticket buying process.

What’s so cool about questions?
Let’s say you run a charity event, conference, festival, or amusement park and you’re selling tickets with us. Purchase Questions make it easy for you to find out how customers heard about an event, collect t-shirt sizes, gather age information, or confirm whether or not customers are *really* ready to ride that new upside-down coaster. Music promoters can use questions for all kinds of things! You can get feedback about your club, run fan giveaways, find out which new beer your customers would like on tap, collect additional contact info, and more.

How does it work?
Now when you build your event on Ticketfly, you can create open questions, multiple choice questions, or contact fields that will show up when fans buy tickets. Make them either optional or required. After the event, you can view collected info in your account or filter and export it for later use! And everything happens in Ticketfly’s Backstage content management system; you won’t need a 3rd party survey service.

For customers, it means the events and venues you love will be able to offer you cool free stuff, better target your interests, and get your valuable feedback, no yelps required.

If you’re not currently a Ticketfly client and would like more info, check us out!

FlyTips: Making the Most of Facebook’s Timeline Changes

March 06, 2012

Fly Tips

Hey Ticketfly Gang!

Beginning March 30th, ALL Facebook Pages for businesses will have a different design. Before the big change, you can preview your new Page and get it all spruced up for its debut. Hang onto this Timeline guide directly from Facebook and their FAQ.

But here are the *5 big things* that Ticketfly clients need to do with their Pages right away. Examples pictured below!

1. Add Ticketfly’s Buy Tickets App to Your Top Row

  • If you haven’t yet started selling tickets on your Facebook Page, first install the App.
  • Once installed, you can add the App to your favorites so it’s one of the first things fans see when they land on your Page. Just click the dropdown next to your Favorite apps (Pictured below) to make your choices.

2. Choose a Dazzling Cover Photo

  • Your new cover photo will be the first thing that fans see when visiting your Page. Be sure to upload something dynamic, atleast 399 pixels wide, that represents your brand.
  • Do not include a call-to-action like “Buy Tickets Now!” or pricing info in your photo and check out Facebook’s guidelines for cover photos! We don’t want you getting into trouble. Remember that you can preview your new Page before publishing.
  • We like what our client The Cotiliion did with their cover photo if you need an idea!

3. Feature Page Content on Your Timeline

  • Facebook Timeline for Pages allows you to “Pin” select content to the top of the Page, highlight stories, and add specific milestones to your Page history.
  • Mouse over posts to highlight or pin. Read more here.
  • This is an especially great feature for getting extra attention for a specific event or announcement.

4. Add Apps and Arrange Your App Photos

  • The new Timeline will do away with any landing tabs that aren’t your Wall, including Welcome tabs or apps that require a “Like” to see content. This might seem like a drawback but the new design is much more conducive to fan engagement and you can have your favorite apps front and center!
  • The Photos App is the only one that cannot be moved. It will always be displayed first.
  • We recommend placing the “Buy Tickets” app directly to the right of Photos
  • Under the new Admin panel, click Manage > Edit Page > Apps to select order and images
  • For more info, click here. Check out how Ticketfly branded our favorite apps so our Page has a uniform look!

5. Exchange Private Messages with Fans

  • Customers and fans can now send private, direct messages to your Page, rather than posting on your Wall.
  • To make sure messaging is enabled, go to Admin Panel > Manage > Edit Page > Manage Permissions
  • When you log into Facebook, be sure to check your Admin Panel for incoming messages

As always, if you need any help, reach out to your client rep! Not a client? Click here to learn more about Ticketfly.

The Belle of Mardi Gras!

February 24, 2012

by Eboni Jones, Ticketfly Marketing Intern

We know we can’t be everywhere, every day. But we sure try! For instance, you may have seen Ticketfly banners hanging from balconies on Bourbon Street during Mardi Gras. You may have even seen our own Ellis Ranko, New Orleans native/Sales Guy extraordinaire, buzzing around with beads and brews on Fat Tuesday.

But don’t fret if you missed our presence during the festivities cause T’Fly and NOLA have a thing going on! The ‘Fly crew is excited to announce that we are now working with some of the best venues on the Bayou.

Preservation Hall

Often touted the music lover’s mecca, Preservation Hall was founded in 1961 to protect the honor of New Orleans Jazz which had lost popularity to modern jazz and rock ‘n’ roll. According to a fan on Yelp, “This is the only venue in New Orleans where music wasn’t blasted at us from speakers…there are no amps, mics, or ringing in the ears, just pure and simple jazz.”

The Metropolitan Nightclub

You know those posh, fancy clubs in NYC and Vegas? Well that’s the vibe of The Metropolitan. What makes it even swankier is they also have live music shows. They hosted the Bacchus Bash 2012 the ultimate day party, that went into the wee hours of the night. We’re not complaining, we like their style!

JAX Brewery Bistro Bar

In the oldest and most famous neighborhood in New Orleans, known as the Vieux Carre or French Quarter, Jax Brewery Bistro Bar is one to keep on your radar. The venue offers a nice mix with a laid-back bar downstairs and a club atmosphere upstairs. Take your drinks outside on the patio and enjoy the beautiful view of the Mississippi River. Oh, here’s a bit of interesting trivia, it used to be the old Ripley Believe It Or Not!

Republic NOLA

You are in for a special treat, when you visit Republic NOLA for a night of dancing or a live show. According to the locals, this is one of the best places to see a concert because it is both comfortable and intimate. Don’t miss their NOLA Funk JazzFest Series coming this spring!

Stay in touch with Republic NOLA, follow them on Twitter and like the venue on Facebook.

Talk about following in the footsteps of our clients. Our buddy and long time partner Seth Hurwitz of 9:30 Club/ Merriweather Post Pavilion made his acting debut on HBO’s Treme, a series based on post Katrina New Orleans. Now it’s our time to shine in NOLA!
